A West Seabrook man who drove over the old stone bridge at 43 miles an hour was fined £120 by Hartbury magistrates on Monday.
Mr Kenneth Aldous, 58, of West Seabrook Road, Seabrook, admitted exceeding the 30 mile an hour limit on the Hartbury road on 9 January. He told the bench he had been late for the tide. The chairman of the bench said the limit applied at all states of the tide. Mr Aldous was ordered to pay £90 costs and his licence was endorsed with three points.
Television licence
Mrs Patricia Ellery, 66, of Station Road, Hartbury, admitted using a television set without a licence on 12 November. She said the set had been her late husband’s and she had believed the licence was his as well. She was fined £60 with £40 costs. The bench heard that a licence had since been bought.
Rail fare
Mr Lewis Coombes, 24, of Mill Lane, Hartbury, admitted travelling to Hartbury by train on 2 December without a ticket. He said the ticket office at the station where he boarded had been shut. He was fined £50 and ordered to pay the fare of £7.40 and £40 costs.
