Seabrook Pier will open for the season next month, the Town Council confirmed this week.
The arcade has been shuttered since the end of last season. It will open at weekends in March and every day from Good Friday, 3 April.
The pier itself has stayed open to walkers through the winter, as it does every year. The lights along the railings are lit at dusk. Two benches damaged in the January gales have been repaired. Dogs are allowed on a lead.
The pier was built in 1878 and restored in the early 1990s after storm damage. A walk from one end to the other takes about seven minutes.
It will be the first season since the death of Mr Edward Calder, 71, proprietor of The Mariner’s Rest guesthouse on Pier Approach, who fell from the pier during a storm last September. An inquest at Hartbury recorded a verdict of accidental death.
A Council spokesman said the town was slow until the school holidays. “It picks up at Easter,” he said.
