The Charity Shop

Clothes, books and china. The window display shows ambition.

The charity shop is on the High Street and is run by Elsie Pickering with a rota of volunteers. It sells donated clothes, books, china, pictures and household goods, and the proceeds go to local causes.

The window is changed regularly. Recent displays have been arranged with some ambition and have drawn comment.

Elsie Pickering knows the history of the town and of a good many of the items on the shelves. Customers wishing to know who owned a thing before them have only to ask.

Donations are received at the counter during opening hours. Donors are asked not to leave bags in the doorway overnight, where they are opened by gulls.
